On this lovely Autumn Equinox, we’d like to announce the next installment of our anthology series – Tidings – for December 2021!
Tidings is a collection of poetry, prose and artwork that works to bring the spectrum of the holiday season together into its pages . No matter what or how you celebrate through the winter, there’s no denying that it’s a time of year that is highly emotional, beautiful and worthy of art. In the last two years – as the pandemic stretches on – the holidays have become a drastic example of how our lives revolve around traditions, memories, and human connection. We’re thinking about the ways art and poems have kept us connected. We marvel at the ability to find solace and kinship in words. This equinox marks the point where day and night are equal – for a fleeting moment – until the dark begins to creep up. It’s also a point of celebration – for good harvests, prosperity, and for taking stock of what will keep you through the dark winter. As we make our announcements and open up for submissions, we’re thinking about the ways art and poems have kept us. We hope you’ll take the time in these next few weeks to look through your work, celebrate how far you have come, and send us something you love.

Please submit up to two poems, prose pieces under 600 words, or two pieces of artwork via email to us at: sarah@domesticatedprimate.com. Deadline to submit will be 12.3.21!

Please note; during this past year we’ve been publishing our anthologies digitally. That is currently our plan with Tidings 2021. As much as we want to get back to physical printing and sharing books with you all, this is the safest (and let’s be honest, cost-effective) way for us to keep this little project alive. We’ve set our submission deadline much earlier than in years past – just in case. If anything changes, we’ll keep you posted.
