CALL FOR ART: Cat Ladies Against Fascism

Submit your work to our limited-run zine: Cat Ladies Against Fascism

We’ve been pissed off for a good long while now. There’s been a hesitation on some part to bring in the brutality of the world when our little open mics are so joyful and exciting. But the reality is that there’s no separating our art from this world anymore. Our art is our politic. Our creative expression is a political act. As a poet, I’ve known that to be true since I started reading poems. It’s just never occured to me that i could facilitate it. But, during this past year of incredible growth and opportunity – I realized that I can no longer sit down and make nice.

So, I’m launching a limited edition, small run zine focusing on the political act of existing. I hope you’ll join me.

As a “childless cat lady” myself, I find it motivating to give my time and energy – that I don’t have to expend on kids – to art and amplifying others. That is how I make myself useful within the village of my community. I’m also willing to babysit, but we can discuss that offline.

Please send in your poetry, short prose, art and photography that celebrates your rebellion. That captures everything beautiful about your existence in this world. Art that celebrates girlhood. Art that lives somewhere outside the binary. Art that celebrates your body, in the way it exists right now. Art that boils over with rage and hope. Art that calls those rusting doorstops elected to positions of power out of their names.

Please note: while I use feminine terms in my descriptions, this project is open to artists of all gender expressions. We exclude no one. THe only requirements are that you are 1) not a fascist 2) against fascism and 3) not a TERF .

Thank you again for all of the trust and love you’ve poured into Anomaly Poetry. I hope you’ll trust me again with your work.
Sincerely,
Sarah M.
