Join us on Sunday, October 11, 2026 for Unexpected Anomalies, a one-of-a-kind creative workshop experience.

Ekphrastic poetry has a long tradition of breathing new life into pieces of art. With Unexpected Anomalies, we wanted to experiment with the concept of the ekphrastic. Combining the sounds of local musicians and your imagination, this generative workshop offers a few hours to linger, listen and create in community with your fellow artists. While our concept is rooted in poetry-writing, we welcome artists of all types to participate and see what the music inspires.

Hosted by the wonderful Gallery X, located at 169 William Street in Downtown New Bedford, we’ll be surrounded by even more art in their main gallery space. Each musician’s set will serve as our creative prompt, and particpants will have the set length to create something of their own – a poem, a sketch, an origami sculpture — who knows. Participants should bring their creative tools along with them. We’ll be providing seating and sounds, but the rest is up to you!

Anomaly Poetry is proud to present this event in collaboration with our musician-friend Scott Bishop, aka: Scapeghost. We will be annoucing the complete roster of musicians within the next few weeks.
